COACH & TEACHER TRAINING
Our education package continues to be one of our greatest assets, allowing Sportscape to pass on our professional knowledge. This enables all coaches to create a better learning environment for our future sports stars.
Delivered to a number of professional football organisations, including the Malta FA, along with local clubs, we believe this to be an invaluable experience for ciahces and teachers
Our adult education and coach development packages are perfect for teacher training or inset days.
We ensure that every adult who is responsible for teaching sport to children can do so equipped with the best knowledge of how to provide Sport England's focus on multi-skill development for children and therefore improve childrens' 'movement for life'.
TEACHERDEVELOPMENT DAYS
Our teacher training development programme has been designed to help teachers understand their responsibilities
for teaching the concepts of healthy living to their pupils.
Using specialised speed, agility and quickness equipment in practical and fun sessions
we improve teachers' knowledge of the ABCs of sport:
AGILITY
Running technique, gait, lateral movements and fun games.
BALANCE
Core muscle development, bi-lateral muscle development, use of objects to improve balance, fun balance games.
CO-ORDINATION
Uni-lateral, bi-lateral and cross-lateral movements, brian gym exercises to ehance focus, energy and co-ordination.
To accompany the practical exercises we have devloped a theory session which covers session planning, core muscle development, key skill development, age-related activities, the coaching process and child evaluation.
COACHEDUCATION
We provide football clubs with the opportunity to have our educators working with their own team coaches to provide practical or theory-based football specific coaching sessions.
The most effective sessions we have conducted have been a mix between both the theory and practical sessions, allowing people to understand how and why we practice effectively and then putting this theory into practice.
Some of the topics we have covered in our theory sessions include:
Roles/Responsibilities of a coach
Code of Conduct
Child Protection
Psychological Aspects of the Game
Understanding the children and their learning
The Coaching Process
Session Planning
Assessment of Children (physical and technical)
Video Game Analysis, the use of video as a medium of feedback/assessment
Understanding nutrition
Working in schools (curriculum delivery)
Holiday coaching
Our practical sessions can have a specific focus or be generic in nature. We have focussed on how to educate specific age groups:
5-7yrs (basic skill development, understanding basic positioning)
8-10yrs (concepts of team play, techniques in pressurised situations, small sided games 6v6 up to 8v8)
11-14yrs (11v11, phases of play, functional practices)
14yrs-open age (Tactical development of defensive and attacking play)
We have also delivered specific sessions on tactical development/phases of play to develop coaches understanding of a 'club way to play'.
One of our programmes included principles of attacking play, which included the sessions:
Creating space in the attacking 1/3
Wide play
Switching play
Crossing and finishing
Attacking in central areas
Long range shooting and close range finishing
Wide angles shooting
Possession- when to play to feet/space
Creativity in and around the box
These activities aid in the continual development of current coaches/managers/parents, giving all sufficient knowledge to develop sound coaching philosophy/practice based on knowledge given, accompanied by each individuals personal experience.
